Walmart Issues Recall for Organic Chia Seeds Due to Salmonella Concerns

Walmart has announced a recall of certain organic chia seeds sold nationwide due to potential Salmonella contamination, according to a notice from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall involves one lot of Great Value Organic Black Chia Seeds, identified by food supplier Natural Sourcing International as possibly containing the harmful bacteria.

The specific products affected are packaged in 32-ounce containers with the following details:

  • Lot code: 24095 C018
  • Universal Product Code (UPC): 078742300665
  • Expiration date: October 30, 2026

Chia seeds are known for their health benefits, including promoting heart and digestive health, and are commonly used in salads, yogurt, oatmeal, granola, and more.

While there have been no reported cases of Salmonella infections linked to these chia seeds, Natural Sourcing International has initiated the recall as a precautionary measure, prioritizing consumer safety.
