Trader Joe’s has issued a recall for specific bags of cashews due to potential Salmonella contamination.
The affected product, Trader Joe’s Nuts – 50% Less Sodium Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews – with SKU Number 37884 and Lot Numbers T12139, T12140, T12141, and T12142, was distributed across various Trader Joe’s locations in AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, ID, KS, LA, NM, NV, OK, OR, TN, TX, UT, and WA.
While no illnesses have been reported thus far, Salmonella can lead to severe food poisoning symptoms in infected individuals.
The issue came to light during routine FDA testing upon import, where one of the recalled lots tested positive for Salmonella. These cashews were sourced from India or Vietnam.
Trader Joe’s is advising customers who have purchased the affected cashews to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.
