California-based company, Tropicale Foods, has issued a recall of 5,224 units of mini ice cream bars due to potential salmonella contamination, spanning across at least 16 states in the U.S. and parts of Europe.
The voluntary recall affects the Helados Mexico Mini Ice Cream Variety Pack, specifically targeting the mango bars contained within the assortment. Testing revealed the possibility of salmonella contamination in these mango bars, prompting the recall.
The affected product, bearing a best-by date of October 11, 2025, was distributed to retail outlets in numerous states, including Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., as well as select locations in Europe.
Tropicale Foods has taken immediate action to halt further distribution of the product and is actively investigating the root cause of the issue, as confirmed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Thus far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. However, consumers are urged to check their product and refrain from consuming any items from the affected batches as a precautionary measure.
