Johnsonville Recalls 35,000 Pounds of Turkey Kielbasa Over Contamination Concerns

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has initiated a recall of more than 35,400 pounds of Johnsonville turkey kielbasa sausages, following concerns of potential contamination with foreign materials, specifically pieces of rubber.

The recall, launched by Salm Partners, was prompted by consumer complaints brought to the attention of the company. The FSIS specified that the affected products are 12-ounce packages of Johnsonville Polish Kielbasa Turkey Sausage with “best by” dates of May 17 and May 18, bearing the establishment number “P-32009.”

Johnsonville, which recently acquired the Wisconsin-based sausage manufacturer, underscored its commitment to consumer safety, stating, “Protecting the consumer is our priority and why we’re issuing the recall.”

Individuals who have purchased the recalled kielbasa sausages are advised by the FSIS to discard them or return them to the store of purchase. Fortunately, there have been no reported adverse reactions or injuries associated with the consumption of these products.

According to Johnsonville, retail distribution centers in multiple states, including Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, North Carolina, Iowa, Kansas, and Minnesota, have received shipments of the recalled sausages. The company has promptly communicated with its retail partners to remove the affected products from shelves.

It is important to note that this recall specifically pertains to Johnsonville’s Polish Turkey Kielbasa sausages with “best by” dates of May 17 and May 18 and does not affect other products in their line.
