February 14, 2024 – In a developing situation, the recall involving charcuterie and deli meat trays has widened its scope to encompass additional brands believed to be at risk of Salmonella contamination.
This recall was initially instigated by Busseto Foods following reports of at least 47 individuals falling ill with Salmonella, with 10 requiring hospitalization.
The extended recall now includes various brands of pre-packaged, ready-to-eat charcuterie meat trays, antipasto, coppa, and deli meat trays.
Brands implicated in the recall consist of Beretta, Busseto, Culinary Tour, Salumi Artigianali, Dietz & Watson, and private labels from Aldi, Lidl, and Publix.
Products subject to the recall may bear “best by” dates extending through July 2024.
Health authorities took action after identifying Salmonella in an unopened Coppa product during their investigation into the Salmonella outbreak. Subsequent examinations indicated potential under-processing in the recalled products.
Consuming food tainted with Salmonella can lead to food poisoning, with prevalent symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever emerging within 6 hours to 6 days post-consumption.
